Sustainability

At Coreshell, our primary mission is to increase sustainability through the use of innovative chemistry. We are constantly researching and developing new ways to create advanced textile coatings that not only enhance the performance of fabrics, but also have a minimal impact on the environment. We are committed to finding creative solutions that balance the needs of the environment and the wants of our customers.

One way in which we do this is by incorporating bio-based alternatives into products  traditionally composed of non-renewable resources. We invest heavily in our research and development to discover new applications for bio-based alternatives. For example, we are currently exploring the use of soybean oil in textile performance coatings. By working with global leaders in the soy industry we aim to provide a sustainable alternative to the current petroleum based chemical coatings seen world-wide.

Another important approach in sustainability is extending the life of fabrics and encouraging a circular economy. Our technology allows for the development of as well as re-application of high-performance textile coatings. Not only does our chemical application repurpose clothing with value adding properties, it also validates the economic possibilities of a circular economy. We work with companies to demonstrate that there is a business model in helping preserve clothing, even if fast-fashion has dominated the global stage for the past decade.

While addressing environmental impacts at their roots is paramount, it is equally important to develop solutions to cope with the emerging repercussions of the world's current climate crisis. As urbanization, globalization, population growth, and environmental change contribute to an increase in widespread diseases, humans will need to adapt through unique technology. We are currently designing an application process to bind anti-microbial silver polymers to various fabrics, providing anti-odor and anti-microbial properties. Increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are consequently increasing the average global temperature. Our team has developed a line of temperature cooling clothing using an advanced water activated polymer. '

While these solutions far from fix the climate crisis we now face, they provide key insight into the role of chemistry and innovation in rewriting our planets grim future.
